Walk & run in North Bend to honor man who lost battle with colorectal cancer

North Bend, Wash. — On Sunday, July 19, 2026, remembrance, movement, and community will come together in North Bend for a walk and run to honor Blake Pottle.

Pottle lost his battle with stage 4 metastatic colorectal cancer in 2021 after being diagnosed at the age of 38. He was an adventure seeker. He traveled the world, loved his family and friends, and was fiercely competitive, largely contributing to his love of sports, his family says.

Pottle's family started the Blake Pottle Foundation as a way to provide funding and support to other families going through similar situations. His family wanted to honor Blake not only by remembering him, but by continuing the generosity he lived by.

The 5th annual Opt Outside to Fight Cancer 1k/5k walk/run to fight cancer will be held in Pottle's honor on Sunday, July 19th at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend. To participate, you can register online or the morning of the event on site. 100% of net proceeds directed back into cancer-related community support, Pottle's family says.

ARC Seattle co-anchor Steve McCarron spoke with Pottle's father, Steve Pottle, and sister, Heidi Pottle, about the event and the foundation's impact.
