Schock Family Testimonial

Our family has been blessed beyond measure to have the love and support of the Blake Pottle foundation

They found us at the most important time, right when we needed the most support. Our lives changed the night of February 27, 2022, in a way we could have never imagined. We were celebrating our oldest sons 22nd birthday and then were being told our youngest son seemed to have cancer. It happened all so fast. Thirteen days from his first symptoms, to us packing a bag for a few days, not realizing we would be relocating our lives & be over 3 hours away from our family and friends for nearly 8 months. Our son Drew, was diagnosed with a rare form of High Risk B-Cell A.L.L. combined with an 8;14 translocation mutation. We found out there are less than 1% of leukemia patients worldwide that have this particular combination. Clearly, this made for a very complex and challenging road ahead of us.

The Blake Pottle foundation came into our lives at a pivotal point in our journey, when we needed additional support. The members of the foundation welcomed us with open arms helping us find housing, connecting us to resources for things we missed out on from being away from home, and most importantly provided love and emotional support to our family. We are so thankful to the Hanson and Pottle families, who extended their hearts to help us keep putting one foot in front of the other and navigate through some major obstacles. We are now at the beginning stages of a 2 year maintenance phase, allowing us to move our family back home after almost 8 months. We will come to Seattle for a 1 day treatment every month for at least the first year. We have learned that change is constant and know that we are blessed and thankful to be where we are today.

Our lives have been forever changed and while there’s no way to truly understand why, I know that Blake Pottle had a very intentional plan for connecting us. He knew we needed help and support and placed Danny, Jacqueline, Caton, and Camden into our lives. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about how you all helped bring smiles to our faces and not only talk about the hard things but everything else. Your family holds a special place in our hearts, every one of you, and we are forever grateful for your love, generosity, and support.
